This is the third Water Tower I painted. The other two were sold.
A quality, original, signed, 100 % hand painted, acrylic painting.

Geometric Abstract Contemporary Painting. Great hard edge’s, bright contemporary abstraction painting.

John was inspired by Artist Tom Frain-stained glass water tower Sculpture on the roof of Dumbo’s 20 Jay Street. It has quickly become an iconic part of the neighborhood’s skyline. Made of roughly one thousand individual pieces of salvaged Plexiglas and some steel bands, Frain’s Water tower resembles a modern stained-glass window in the round.

This is John’s third Water Tower painting. The previous two paintings have been sold.

In this painting there are approximately 300 individual design shapes with a multiuse of custom blended colors.  Each design piece has three to four layers of paint in order to achieve the bold colors.  It is a stunning work of art.

The painting does not require a frame because it is Gallery wrapped

Gallery wrapped: This is a method of stretching an artist’s canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides of the stretcher bar and is secured to the back of the wooden frame. The frame is 1.5 “thick. The painting continues on to the edges of the canvas.

Process: It takes John many hours to produce a quality painting. The first task is to prime the canvas and make a rough sketch on the canvass. The next step is to decide what the dominant colors and tones are and to loosely paint these areas, or block them in.

He will spend A considerable amount of time on the next step, which is working on refining the shapes and colors. Lastly, more details, tones, and highlights are added in.

The rich vivid colors in John’s paintings are achieved by laying down several coats of custom blended paint. This painting will look good anywhere.

Two coats of an acrylic medium to seal the painting are applied after a 24-hour period. Finally, two coats of satin varnish are added in for protection and to produce a nice soft low luster sheen.

John paint’s because he loves it and enjoy expressing and sharing what he sees.
