Process: It takes John many hours to produce a quality painting. The first task is to prime the canvas and make a rough sketch on the canvass. The next step is to decide what the dominant colors and tones are and to loosely paint these areas, or block them in.
He will spend a considerable amount of time on the next step: working on refining the shapes and colors. Lastly, more details, tones, and highlights are added.
The rich vivid colors in this painting are achieved by laying down several coats of custom blended paint.
Two coats of an acrylic medium to seal the painting are applied after a 24-hour period. Finally, two coats of satin varnish are added in for protection and to produce a nice soft low luster sheen.
