In this painting John brings to life a typical NYC street scene; Colorful Apartment buildings with store fronts on the street level. People sitting in a little sidewalk café  brings out the see-and-be-seen culture of the NYC sidewalk café. it doesn’t just offer people-watching and constant interaction with the city streets, it’s a reason to remain in the sun—even while you dine.

Having grown up and lived in New York City,  John loves painting the various street scenes from neighborhoods that he has lived in.

Colors: Red/Violet, Tan, Brown, Green, Violet, Blue, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Gray, Charcoal with a touch of Yellow and Red.

Materials: Quality acrylic paint, stretched canvas, contemporary, assorted gels, satin varnish, black matte frame and hanging hardware ready for you to display.

The contemporary black matte frame gives the painting an elegant look.  This painting will brighten up any space in your home.

Process: It takes John many hours to produce a quality painting. The first task is to prime the canvas and make a rough sketch on the canvass. The next step is to decide what the dominant colors and tones are and to loosely paint these areas, or block them in.

He spends a considerable amount of time working on refining the shapes and colors. Lastly, more details, tones, and highlights are added in.

The rich vivid colors in this painting are achieved by laying down several coats of custom blended paint.

Two coats of an acrylic medium to seal the painting are applied after a 24-hour period. Finally, two coats of satin varnish are added in for protection and to produce a nice soft low luster sheen.

John paints because he loves it and enjoys expressing and sharing what he sees.
